On 13th and 14th November representatives of the five partner organisations of the "ICT 4 the elderly" project met in Malta. The aim was to discuss and plan future project activities. The first day of the kick-off meeting took place in Saint Julian, where the project partners had the opportunity to get to know each other.
The project coordinator from Malta Communication Authority (MCA) then gave an overview of the project. The project partners discussed the contents of the individual work packages and defined the upcoming tasks. The Digital Opportunities Foundation is in the role of the project partner and is responsible for the analysis best practices and current OER materials, which will take place in the first months of the project. Subsequently, an international training with learning and teaching material will be designed and implemented. These material will address mature adults and seniors between 55 and 75 years. This will be tested from spring 2020 in Malta and Germany with an international learning group.
It will help the target group to deepen their basic knowledge in using digital devices and to get to know more opportunities the Internet has. Then, as ambassadors of the project in their environment, they will help other older adults and seniors to develop their digital skills.
On the second day of the meeting the project partners met in La Valletta and visited the MCA offices. The discussion focused on management and financial issues as well as on high-profile activities. In a workshop they got to know the EPALE platform, which is used for the European dissemination of the project results.
The next joint meeting will take place at the end of March 2019 in Berlin.
